I know everybody out there does this but how? I've been reluctant because of freezer burn and all but don't want to lose a third of a seed collection because they all dried out in my room like last year. Do you use jars? Can they be re-frozen? How long will they keep? Thanks, Alex.

I picked up a tilia vacuum sealer on ebay and vacuum seal them before freezing them. You can cut a gallon sealer bag into 8 packets that seed envelopes fit perfectly into. Keep in mind you'll soon need a separate freezer just to hold your seeds. LOL!

Mason or Ball jars work well in the freezer. Steve

I put mine in a ziplock freezer bag sealed and then put them in a sealed jelly or jam glass jar. Or if I don't use a jar, I just double bag my seeds in 2 zip lock freezer bags, seems to work just fine. Jim

The best way to ensure your seeds are completely dry and don't get freezer burn is to use a desiccant pack like those found beef jerky packages. I bought 30 packages of silica desiccant off of Ebay for less than 10 bucks. Use a couple in each jar and it will remove every bit of moisture trapped in the jar, which will prevent freezer burn.
I'm new to this pumpkin game, but I've heard that seeds can keep 10 years or more when stored properly. Freezing them also takes adavntage of the seeds natural dormancy cycle which could keep them viable longer than seeds that had not been frozen.
