Well, today I found that the stem of my biggest pumpkin had started to rot so I picked it. It is a mature fruit so I will plant some of its seeds next year, it's a selfed 649 Dill. The pumpkin had an estimated wieght of 23.2 pounds, when I wieghed it it was 30 pounds, 6.8 pounds(Over 25%) heavy! It has a beautiful orange-pink color. I will send some of its seeds to bigpumpkins.com in the fall. I also picked a 9 pound big max about 6 weeks ago. I think the heat had something to do with this. Best of luck to everyone else, Tom

I think I read somewhere that before you could name a pumpkin it had to weigh more than the grower. So far all my pumpkins have stopped growing short of my weight, and I was forced by giant pumpkin protocol to dispose of them, seeds and all.

Is that season or off season weight. I go 270 in the offseason & 240 in season , only because I spend so much time with these d#&n things I don't have time to eat....Paul

That's a good question Paul. If I remember correctly it is your weight at the moment your pumpkin in weighed so I guess the answer would be "in season". In order to motivate myself to grow a larger pumpkin next year I think I'm going to work real hard in the off-season to push my weight from 275 to somewhere around 380. Another fun in season game would be to start at pollination time and try to see if you can beat your pumpkin to 400lbs.

I'm 75, I'm just to active. it could also be the pumpkins messing with my brain and causing me to stop eating.

CC, I'm not 175 eitherI have a freind who is though, he's a year older than me. a 175 pound 12 year old would scare me, so does a 190 pound 13 year old.

Yo Carrie, My wife is an ex-British body building champion. She's only 5'3"...had to bulk up to 180lb to train and then down to 110lb for the show...that's alot of weight to lose in 5 weeks...like having 2 women around the house. lol
