Only problem I see with this is the grower who grows the largest squash according to the color rules happens to be heavier than a true squash will feel slighted. I think if your going to go with two jackets you also need a third one also, to prevent any hard feelings especially if both growers are in attendance. Just my two cents

Do a Goggle Search for "Masters Jacket Purchase".
Mine was handcrafted in Cleveland. (YIKE$ I'm glad it was a prize!) I'd recommend looking to big boxes for occasional use.

Awesome idea Wayne! Dave, please consider the green jacket, it would be an awesome honor to those who grow the greenies, true greenies!
If it is a money thing, maybe we could assemble a seed auction for the purchase of both orange and green jackets yearly. Seeds would come from donations out of the pumpkin organizations that want to donate, I am sure you could get plenty of takers to help there.
Drew brought up the color issue, and while it is a good point, as I have said in the past, if you have been growing for any length of time, you can tell an orange fruit going or gone green, as compared to a true green/blue squash. 75/25 doesnt cut it..
Thanks for the awesome idea, please make all considerations for this award. Here is a good question while this topic is in the air.. if there was a green jacket right now for the 2003 growing season, who would have gotten it? Ben Hebb I assume with his true green squash weighing 986 pounds. (Note: nothing against the unbelievably large "squash" Jerry Rose grew tipping the scales at 1367 pounds, but you can see the orange going green in it.
Remember, this is not a GPC thing, or if it was, they could purchase the jacket and then the 75/25 would be a rule to live by. But since they haven't offered (or have they behind the scenes?) I suggest it be true green..
Heck, maybe we can have a half orange, half green jacket for those squumpkins!!! haahaa..
Nice thread... keep it civil, and honest..

Recognizing the true squash growers' accomplishments with a Green Jacket is a wonderful idea. I'm behind it all the way.

Dq Pumpkins will not count...must be True green or blue -grey fruit.......this is not a GPC Award.....ideas on drawing up rules to govern color welcomed.....money for trophy ...and Award for first TRUE GREEN 1000 lbs...Jacket is affordable...Nic Welty.....Dave McCallum.....or myself will head this....with plenty of help from Squash growers...let the quest begin......

This golf person just went & got his fake Masters jacket.
The tag on the lapel says "A.R. Cox Ltd. expressly for VILLAGE SQUIRE, Woodmere Village, OH"
The tag at the collar says only "Made in USA - dry clean only"
I don't believe these were authentic but they might have been knowing the contacts our founder had. I'll check to see if I can find out as time allows.

My two cents! Don't mess with the rules of others. Function by weight and pictures right here through the Green Growers of BP.Com. That way you can weigh where ever within rules that sometimes do not agree with thoughts I read here. Your greenie can be certified weight any where! The second judgement and recognition come as an honor through "True Greenie Rules of The BP Squashers Assn." ...Maybe the first year all you can muster would be a $2.00 certificate but dreams can grow and will if the direction does not get weighted down with to many little rules of insignificance. I see merit in this idea. I would support the idea even though I may never grow one. Yes I would, to help what looks good, at this moment.

Great idea. I 100% completely agree (as opposed to 75/25% agree) that it should be for a true green squash.
