Any chance that a petition might help get an exception for small numbers of Large seeds? or even for individually packed seeds? There has to be a way. lots of luck confusing weed seeds or even mixing them up with a couple of AG seeds. just a thought. Maybe our resident expert Kahuna would have an idea or 2. Eric

Seeing that more seeds are getting across the line I think that the less said the better. Get your pettion and make them MAD. They will be looking harder and catch more Seeds. Let the Dead dog Lye Water

hapdad, a petition may help but you are really talking about repealing this section of the law or amending it to allow for some sort of provision which allows for non commercialized importation of small quantities. A better work around is a modified sort of thing Drew has proposed. The mere fact that he was not detained for further inspection at the border means nothing. It could happen the next time. A centralized Canadian clearing house which assumes the roll of certifier and satisfies all of the requirements of the Canadian Phytosanitary Certification Program for Seeds (CPCPS). This in turn meets the import requirements of the US law. Danny & Howard Dill have most likely jumped through this hoop. Individual clubs may be able to apply for the CFIA 5309 labels. Please remember the main culprit here is the USDA. This program will continue to gain enforcement strength as it is implemented at points of entry. Will you be able to transport your seeds as some have suggested? The answer is maybe. However should you succeed in any form it is illegal.
