Is there a correct procedure to bury parts of a vine over a lawn?
Should I:
water first? spray daconil on the vine before burying? spray W-T on the vine before burying? water after burying with compost? pull up as much grass & weeds as possible by hand?
any other procedures?
Is there any ill effect by burying now? I also noticed some leaves in the areas I previously buried about 8-10ft out on the main last month don't look as good as some of the leaves in the 15-25ft range, and the largest leaves are near or beyond any set fruits. I didn't get good fruit sets til 7/31-8/5 due to the heatwave we had and just severed some tap roots within the first couple feet of my best pumpkin today, and with the limited space I have, I'm afraid of stepping on the mains, so black compost would make it easier to see where the mains are. I also have my secondaries trained to run nearly parallel to the mains instead of the x-mas tree pattern, so it's getting crowded, and some secondaries are extending a few feet onto the blacktop driveway. 50-75% of my plants are over the lawn.
I'm not growing for a weigh-off (too many heavy hitters come to mine), just halloween & hope they'll grow til October. What can I use as a guideline for size? My newest one pollinated 8/5 was at 49" circ & 118 ott total at 16 days.
Thanks
Mark

Hay Korney, Is that one of the seeds I sent you? I sent you two types of my stock. Several from the Gadberry 410# from "00" White seeds, My 410 is currently at 690#, Bright orange, and about 700 sq. ft. The other seeds were brown, from my LaRue 1016 cross with Waterman 1026. I didn't grow one of those this year but I hear their doing well.
E-mail me...... :}
