i have seen some of your pictures and the amount of leaves is way more than i. my main vines are only 15'max with side vines 3'. each one has on dill pumpkin at about 40 lbs. each. i snipped the ends. my question is will the lack of volume of leaves on my plants affect pumpkin size and are my pumpkins too small for this time of the season. i have notice they have slowed a little this last week (rained heavily) thx for your responses

Yes Northcountry...the size of your plant (small) will be a limiting factor in the size of your pumpkin. Consider each leaf a solar panel making energy that gets stored in a pumpkin....generally speaking, more leaves =more pumpkin. There is debate that a great pumpkin can be grown on a 500sq ft plant but most arent and most are grown on plants much bigger. You seem to have about 100sq ft per pumpkin which is well below what most are talking about here. If your looking for a large pumpkin (500lbs plus) then I'd say YES, you are behind for this time of season. Generally, when it rains alot, then the sun isn't out alot. No sun means slower pumpkin growth.........G
