I posted a message on peast and diseases but put it here also because it is spreading quickly. I had a veryhealthy Dill875 untill today I started pollinating on June 24, Plant is large and pest free but the leaves on the distal ends of the vines are developing brownish-black areas on the edges of the leaves. It is spreading proximally, and those leaves are wilting. I have been using a combo dust for bugs and fungus with good resaults. Today I sprayed with captan and dusted with the combo. Can you tell me what this is and if there is anything else I can do? Is it fatal? Weathere in central Pa has been humid and rain alot.

HI AMY. I have the same thing and have had it in the past it,s the hot humid heat doing it. only on the ends of the vines on tender growth maybe 1 to 3 ft in off ends.I cut off the real bad looking leafs and bury the vine . the not so bad looking ones i let grow. a yr ago it was so hot in early june in N.H i had 3 ft. strips of vine with no leafs on them due to the heat.IF your real concerned i,d hang a shade cloth over the ends of the vines. even weed barriers work well( something that will shade)and stop the wilt. so if leafs are crisp brown to black the next day after a 90+ degree day that would be my best guess what it is. hope this helps good luck John G

i think you are right mini patch, have the same thing happen when it gets warm. there is a lot of heat right at the surface and it makes the young leaves wilt and turn brown.

Bury your tap roots and water those areas as well.
