I have searched here on BP and have not been able to find much info on starting a new plot. Questions are
1. Try to grow in it this year? Frost usually comes out of the ground in March and we won't plant until the 2nd or 3rd week of May. So I would have plenty of time to get the site tilled and ready.
2. I was thinking 3 pickup loads of aged cow stuff, Gypsum, kelp meal and some granular 18-20-18 per palnting site.
3. Any ideas from you guys thay have started a new plot.
Thanks Dean

I would get a soil test done on the new plot ASAP in the spring. As soon as that is done, add the aged manure for sure. You could add the other stuff as well, but you might want to wait until the results of the soil test come back so you know what your soil needs.

If you can hack out some frozen soil, let it thaw & get it to a lab for a soil test you'll be ready to amend as advised as soon as things are "workable".

Hold the synthetics. There is nothing in that bag that will help build your soil. Nothing! There is a lot in that bag that will hurt your living soil. Get a copy of Dear Dirt Doctor, Garrett, Texas Univ. Press under $20.00 and determine if you want to nuke your soil and wipe out much of the value of your well placed manures. One way the quality of your patch will improve each year. The other side of this coin is not pretty.
