SE Qld Australia

here in australia theres been a lot of problems with ammonia nitrate bombs at the moment there are 2 ideas on dealing with the problem.

1.add a chemical that makes it non explosive also makes it non efective as a fertilizer.

2. make people show their ID making it only available to
18+ year olds.

both are bad ideas now if 2 comes in I won't be able to get my nitroge urea.

That may be a blessing. You can certainly do nicely and better without urea. Get yourself a copy of Dear Dirt Doctor, Howard Garrett, Texas University Press, Amazon.com and other discount book sellers, paperback $15.00 - $20.00 On line go to Fertrell to see their product line. Your country has some of these products without a doubt presented by your in country organic supply firms.

I use Blood and Cottonseed meal....costs more, you have to figure out how long it takes to be effective and when to apply, but relatively safe when used properly and easier on the plant.
I learned the hard way with urea.

I'd use Calcium Nitrate if it was me. A far better way to put nitrogen in the soil.

Stan's quite right.
I used Nutri-Cal foliar and wraps heavily this past season. Not one split in 38 pumpkins...had a blossom end leak when a plant was really growing but wraps sealed it up. 6.5% N, very gentle on the plants and no "spikes" in plant growth, nice and consistent. *Really* good stuff.
Tremor (aka Steve) sells it thru Lesco....

Hey Kyle
You said you used wraps, What do you mean, your pumpkin directly wrapped in a blanket soaked with Nutri-Cal?

Sounds great... nitrogen and calcium are really the
only two things I need "more" of.
