Hello, again. Are there any clues to cue in on when a female bud is ready to bloom? I have around 10 that are close but I don't want to be stuck at work when they decide to open. I have plenty of males blooming. Thanx again for your continued help, gang. PF

fred the flower petals will grow usaully takes a week to 10 days for flower to develope once pumpkin appears they bloom first thing in the morning so check them right after sunrise if u plan on hand pollinating then cover pumpkin with sandwich bag till flower dies off .

Just before the female bud blooms the tip of the flower petals are yellowish, usually they open the next morning, that is what tells me to set my alarm clock to 6 or 7 am.

Thanx, E and Case. We noticed them last Tuesday and they are developing rapidly. I'm making plans to visit them every evening this week in anticipation of big day.
Great advice, again and my boys and I are glad to have you guys around. PF

This was just the info I was looking for too. Thanks for asking just the right question Fred. I'm waiting on female flowers too. We can watch for yellow tips now too. Thanks all!
