If your pumpkin has stopped growing is it o.k. to just leave it on the vine?

it only has 6 leaves, the rest died in the heat so I was amazed to see growth.

Well,of course there are no guarantees, but they can last quite a while once they're done if they are left on the vine and protected.Mine has been done for a week and still has 42 days to go.Keep it shaded, dry, and water the vine if it needs it.............G
