Some of my leaves have a white, almost transparent substance on them. I say "on them" but it almost appears to be part of the leaf. It doesn't readily rub off. I have to press the leaf between my fingers and scrub it around to affect the white stuff at all. Almost to the point of rubbing a hole in the leaf. I've sprayed with Daconil once already. What is this stuff?
I've got good vines with male and female blooms but I can't seem to get a pumpkin to set. Just Houdens and Big Max pumpkins. I'm not sure the female blooms even open. What gives?
What's the prefered method of application for the seaweed and 5-10-40 water soluable fertiliizers? Do they work the best in a foliar application or will soaking the roots help. Would a satndard 2 gal. pump sprayer work for the foliar aspect.
That's all......for the moment.

You have powdery mildew on your leaves. Nothing can be done for the infected leaves. Keep spraying Daconil once per week. Clean out dead leaves and growth to allow more air and light to the vine. Avoid over watering.
Use a hose attachment sprayer to apply your foliar fertilizers. Enough drips off the leaves to feed the gound roots. It's OK to mix Daconil and 5-10-40 in the same application.

Your 2gal sprayer will work too. Just make sure its cleaned out thoroughly, especially if you use it with herbacides like Roundup. --Bruiser

You should always use two sprayers, one for herbicide, and one for insecticide, label them as such, or results could be detrimental!

Powdery mildew, as I suspected, has gotta be from the brutal humidity over the last week or three. No overhead watering. Drip only.
Seperate sprayer for the Roundup is already in place, but thanks for the reminder.
I'm still wondering about the female blooms and their reluctance to open. Is that a nutrient deficiency, or just tempramental females?

if it is hot they won't set. they will all abort. sometime they won't set ( or even show up) if you have high nitrogen levels... many growers quit fertilizing at pollination time.
"not sure if the female blooms even open ?" either they do or they don't --??? have you seen any females open ? do you hand pollinate ?
