This is just great. I was trying to get some styrofoam under my pumpkin and I ended up breaking off a large leaf that connected right at the stem of my pumpkin. Does anyone have a clue to as how this will affect my pumpkin? I am going to apply some fungicide. I hope that will help and that it will heal up. If any of you have suggestions for me please send and e-mail. I have posted a picture under my diary entry, (BigAtlantic). Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

The leaf at the junction of the pumpkin stem usually has to be severed eventually because it rubs on the growing pumpkin scratching its tender skin. No great harm has been done!

As long as you just broke the leaf, and not the stem, it should be just fine. I cut off any leaves that are touching the pumpkin. As Stan said, they will scratch the pumpkin's skin. --Bruiser

Timely comments, just noticed my pumpkin is being scratched by leaf. Thought about wrapping a bit of electrical tape around it. Cutting it off would be easier. Bill C.

I just cut the two leaves near my Big Max "Sunshine". Her skin was perfect until these scratches showed up.... Karen

Some growers wrap padding around the vine and leaf stems that touch the Pumpkin.

Thanks all for your help. For some reason or another my picture did not get posted in my diary so I just posted it again. Please take a look and send any responses to me when you see the picture.
