This is my first time growing pumpkins. I have about an acre of 20 or so different varieties of pumpkins. while in my section of AG(bought from a seed company, not Guerney). One particular plant has an est. 90lb fruit but it is green colored. It seems to be changing to a dark pink. Is this common? Or are the genetics in the seed mixed with rgular pumpkins? The shape and size is simular to all of the other AG growing in my patch, except for the one that I am giving extra care to. Tom

Bantam, AG pumpkins ware created by crossings with squash. My best looking Dill pumpkin starts out pale green with very green stripes. After about three weeks it starts turning orange and is now (six weeks after pollinating)viberant orange, and about 250#. Keep up the hard work! Gerry Gadberry. P.S it is from a white seed.

AG's can vary from creamy white, pink, orange and all the shades inbetween. anything goes so long as it's not a dark color- ie- green or blue, then it would be a squash. Most AG's start out yellow and then end up something that is not really jack o lanteren pumpkin orange. they can also start out green. from my limited experence to me it seems like the ones that start out green and stay green longer will end up being the darkest orange. gordon
