What are the official rules for holes in the pumpkins or stems. Found a split in the stem right at the pumpkin, it is about one inch long and stops right at the pumpkin. I put some silicon type stuff on the split. He is about 300 lb's and should go to about 600 for the weigh off. Planing to go to Half Moon Bay because we live in Redwood City, just a few miles away. We know we can't win with it but really want it to be official and entered in the contest and weighed.

You'll have to check you local rules for the weigh-off site. For the G.P.C., splits and holes are O.K. as long as they don't penetrate into the actual cavity of the pumpkin. (This is intended to keep us all honest!) I would treat that split with some Captan or sulphur to keep any possible fungus or disease from enering the fruit.
