Can anyone tell me why I have a vine thats gone flat, I mean it split and spread open? Nothing has been coming out and the plant is very green with lots of leaves. Have I done this to it or is it just deformed, maybe it had and drug mom!

I believe that this is a genetic thing. I have a plant with plenty of these splits(off of the secondary vines), but it doesn't seem to be affecting any growth.

I had the same thing on 2 plants, One was a 483 BEAUCHIMIN and the other was a766 WILLEMESE....The 766 WILLEMESE has gotten so big that it curled under and stoped growing...But....Has sent out some vines finaly!! This vine is at 15 inches wide and flat!!!!I had many, many, flowers and leaves....Chris

My vines went flat after I had my first pumpkin set.

It sounds to me like your talking about a split vine that split along the vine, then opened up showing the insides of the vine. This happenes when the wind takes the vines.....its normal and shouldn't be a problem, but something you want to prevent from happening......G
