what is the average growth per day for the main vine? and also: we get about 9 hrs of sunlight a day, is this a factor for females to grow? thanks for any input. gp

I receive around 13 hours of sun light. It depends on how much you push your plants. On my checkon 815 I pushed with about twice as much fertilizer and water and iron. It is about double the size than my other plants. Not taking into effect for genes. The checkon 815 grew around 8 inches. While the other plant has grow around 4 inches.

I've been fertilizing pretty heavily and here in Massachusetts I've been getting about 7 inches/day. Though I'm closer to Mark's 13 hours of light. For the moment I am still waiting on fertilizer until I get a female bloom. So far I have none and my vine is 10 feet out. I'm not too nervous... yet.

my plants received about 11 hours of sunlight a day. i've seen growth of over a foot on my main on my biggest plant, well, at least until i snapped it off. now i'm getting a good 8 inches a day on each of the 7 secondaries i'm growign out to replace the broken main. i would say that's a pretty conservative estimate. my other plant is getting about 14" a day off the main, secondary's are slow. i've fertilized my plants twice this year. i wouldn't say that vine growth is a determinant of fruit growth, or size. my plants in previous years have performed very similarly to what i'm experiencing now. i know other growers that have grown really big ones off of smallish looking plants. ron wallace grew an 800 uow a few years back off of an 887 orr plant. he's told me that that plant had 32 leaves on it when the pumpkin was pollinated, and he was pretty near culling the whole plant. so, you never can tell with these things!
