Theres alot of powdery mildew, some leaves are yellow, pumpkins look ok but are growing slowly. I have 3 pumpkins set. The first one was pollinated Aug. 1st. It is 18" around and green, green, green. Does that sound about how big it should be by now? Will it grow more? The next one was pollinated Aug. 3rd. It is 13". The last one was pollinated Aug 4th. It is 14" around. We have had VERY bad heat here (95-100) in the last week. All my females died. They are comming back now since it rained last night and brought down all the temperatures. Do you think the plants will turn greener again? Will I get more pumpkins? Thanks!

Plumppumpkin, Really late pollinating dates, But not to late to grow a nice Holloween pumpkin. Try to get your plant down to one or two pumpkins (at about 550' 0f plant). Powerdy mildew is always caused from wet humid conditions, compounded by crowded plant foilage.................
Best of luck Gadberry.....................

I am not growing for prizes or size. I am just growing for fun. So it doesn't really matter to me what the size is by harvest.

if you want to prevent powdery mildew you have to control cucumber beatles, they spread the disease when they eat the leaves and then drag their manure through the wounds. I use Bug be gon as an insect control and daconil as a fungicide. I'm not suggesting you use chemicals if you don't feel comfortable, just telling you what I've used
