I have vines 15 to 20 long I took off some of the runners that were 8 long and left only one female on the main vine and buried it,was this ok to do this early? I have only grown 100 to 150 lbs, any advice .

A little early to be stopping plant growth shoulda set acouple of fruit before terminating vine growth. Be a shame if it aborts the one pumpkin you have started. hopefully you can still set another fruit on this plant just for safety sake. Good Growing Ernie

I wouldn't remove females until after you pollinate them and evaluate their growth rates, position to vine, etc. You could be removing your best ones before giving them a chance. The only exception would be one that is very close to the stump or if it was early June. For late June, I say pollinate away. I am now up to 18 blossoms pollinated on two plants. I am sure other growers might do this a little different too.
