Hi everyone, thanks for reading this post. I was a member here last year and shared some ideas about my dad's pumpkins. He ended up with a 400+ pounder last year and was the talk of the town. He was even on the local news. This year he is well on his weigh (pun intended) to another very big pumpkin. He keeps in touch with a few of the "heavy hitters" in the PA area and I think he has them all beat so far. He has one of his pumpkins estimated at over 350 pounds already and it's gaining in the neighborhood of 20 pounds per day. He has 3 different plants and 5 pumpkins total that he is trying to raise. He lives for his pumpkins and I'm sure he would loves to hear any comments you guys/gals might have. He does not have access to the net so I am posting this for him. The other day, I saw him "misting" his plants with the pressure washer. He shoots the water up in the air and lets the mist fall on the plants to try and cool them from this nasty heat we are having here in PA. Good luck to you all.

I'm going to altoona too! I'll bet we'll be standing next to eachother and won't even know it. I'll just look for the guy with a squash of biblical proportions. He has me beat at least mine are like a whopping 20-30 pounds, I'm jeolous.

I figgered he would be the guy with a fly swatter in his hands trying to keep the rugrats from pulling the stem of his fruit.

My dad is Lou Yohe. He was at Altoona last year and plans on attending again this year. I guess if you read the names on the pumpkins at the weigh-off you will be able to find out who he is. He is trying really to hard to break the 800 pound barrier and I am keeping my fingers crossed for him. I saw the pumkins again yesterday and they are looking great. He has another 2 pumkins pushing the 300 pound mark and the bigger 350+ pounder is really taking off. He planted seeds from Tony Celiburto, pardon my spelling, Mark Patrick and Gary Checkon. It's funny how they are all Atlantic Giant pumpkins but every plants pumpkins have their own color and shape. I'll keep posting to let you all know how the pumpkins are doing. Bye for now. Jay
