My one Conneticut Field is starting to turn orange already, is it to early? It only has one orange spot on it, right now, but it seems to small and to early. It is only about 21 - 22 inches OTT right now.

Hey Karen.....the pumpkin on my unknown genetics AG is pretty orange, and has been since it was pollinated. The pumpkins on my Big Max plants are yellow, and Kirby on the 896 Wells is white (cream colored). They are all still making good gains, and have supple skin....... Maybe the color doesn't really matter that much at this stage, eh? Cuzbiker

This one started as very dark green with dark lines, I had forgotten to mention, that on a windy day early in the week (it's always windy in the plains, but these were 30mph)#2 got scratched up and this one seemed to have gotten pierced with the sharp point of a leaf stem (leaf is now gone). At that one spot there was clear sticking stuff oozing out (just about a teaspoon), when wiping it off it spread a few inches around the mark, that is the only part of the pumpkin that turned orange.
The Conn. field that I pollinated with a Big Max is a much lighter green, it got very scratched up from leaves on that same windy day. I will post pictures of both of them in the gallery today.....Karen
