seems good to me (3-4 a night.)If it doesn't stop growing you'll have a big one. Some people get 4-8in a night but only in bursts.

My best single 24 hour period this year is 6 inches of grow (in circumference). I have heard of larger amounts but have never seen more myself. If you are getting 3 to 4 that is fine. Keeping it going is the trick. The cold nights up hear in CT have slowed growth to a crawl.

Its been mainly in the 70s at night here for 3 weeks and highs mainly in the 90's . Its bad for pumpkin pollination but if one does pollinate .... it grows like "CRAZY". its expected to be mainly 88-98 here for the next 2 weeks and lows mainly 70's still.

If your "prize" fruit is going to reach 1000 pounds, You need to get over 20 pounds per day by the time its 200 pounds and over 25 pounds per day when its 300 to 400 pounds. I have had over 30 pounds per day on 2 fruit. Both split.

How big were they when they split? Why did they split? 30 pounds a day.... How many gallons of water is that per day. I think I better water even more than I am now!

if a plant puts on 30lbs in one day, and 95% of that weight is water, then thats 28.5lbs. A gallon of water weighs 8 lbs. So theoretically, the roots need to absorb only 3.5625 gallons of water to achieve that type of growth. And some people are pouring on over a 1000 gallons a day???

What I've found helpful is assigning letters to each of your keepers. Set up an excel spreadsheet with a line graph for each. Measure at equal intervals (officially it's weekly) and enter the data. Watch the growth trend line and look for rates of growth over time and one can project given the amount of growing days where you'll end up. Amazing how two can be right near one another and the rates will be completely different. Gary Liska Kennett Square, PA
