I have a secondary vine that grew 10 out of the patch over very poor soil. I lifted it up and the tap roots can't even get going into the hard pan.
Is this using more energy than it is giving the plant? I terminated it but should I cut it back 10 to the end of the good soil?

Yo Skeer,
If the roots aint doing their job, hack em off...the rest of the plant is keeping them growin'. Waste of energy.
