I have two plants, growing quite well. They are 6 and 8 feet and have each about two dozen flowers - none are female. I am a first time grower and am expecting the pumpkins to be similar to zuchini and other squash. But something seems horribly wrong. Anybody have any ideas or advice?

The females usually come after the males so you may have to just wait it out. The only other time I heard of a plant getting no females at all is when it doesn't get enough sun.

HI there yukon. The only other thing that limits female flowers that i know of is why to much nitrogin in the soil so if you dident over due it you should get flowers soon.I stop fertilizing 2 weeks before or around the 20th of june and don,t feed them again till i get a couple of pumpkins set on vines. hope this was a little help good luck John G.

Don't worry, you should get one around 12 feet out, just give it time.

Thank you Ken D., mini patch, and Case. I did'nt overdue the nitrogen and were getting about 22 hours of sunlight up here these days. So I guess I should just be patient. You've all reassured me and I needed it! Thanks again and happy growing!
