My vines look healthy but at this date (7/28) there is not a single pumpkin. Is it too late? Seems to me that last year I had fruit by now (southwest Michigan).

You should have fruit set by now. I'm a second year grower and my fruit set late also. I pollnated my first one on 7/22, now it's a little larger than a basketball. You can still have some nice size pumpkins by October if your vines set fruit soon.
