I just noticed that one of my pumpkins has a blossom end split about 3/4" long into the blossom area. I can't tell if it goes through to the center yet. The pumpkin is about 50" in circumference at this point. I made a paste of Captan and water and filled the split as best I could. What additional action should I take, if any, to stop the split from growing and to help it to heal up?

Well, you can start looking around the plant for another prospect ! Seriously, its now a trouble spot on that fruit and a weak spot that will likely cause you problems in the future Phil. I would chose any other fruit over that one at this point. You've done what you can do,except maybe shut down watering and fertilizing to slow the growth enough to allow it to heal and when it heals it will be weak. Its getting late but you still have SOME time espacially where you live.......good luck....Glenn A.

Another method...one of Len's methods...is to pack the split with the clear goo from another split/tear found in your patch...seems to heal splits and might have an anti-bacteria quality to it...but since you've already pasted.......
