I have a pumpkin that was growing 4 and 5 inches around the circumference,a day, it made it up to 66 in. Then we had a couple of very hot days in the 90's. In the 2 days since then it has only gained an inch a day. I haven't erected any shade over it yet, which may have been its downfall. Is it done for, or does it still have any hope for recovery? It doesn't seem to be spungy yet and it hasn't changed colors. Any suggestions or prior experiences to help out would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jeff.

The plant was probably stressed from the heat and did not grow much. If possible, mist your plant during the hottest part of the day to minimize heat stress. There is an article in the How To section about misting systems. Your pumpkin is not done yet. In my opinion, when a pumpkin shows NO growth in any direction for 5 to 7 days then it is probably on its way out. When the measurements actually get smaller then you know its rotting.
