I was reading Tillers post where he saved his culls by severing the vine they are on. I have two pumpkins...and two only...no small ones on a 945 Van. One is a 100 pound square pumpkin, the other a much smaller round one (about 2/3s the size.) Can I completely sever the vine the smaller one is on without shocking the plant and causing the other one to grow too fast and split? Would I do this all at once? Does that vine not provide nourishment to the main plant as well? I can't seem to find anything about this in my growers book.

check boily's diary he did it with much success by severing a 1/4 through vine daily.

I'll let you know later today after I get down to the patch to ferilize and spray.

Looking good so far, culled vine fruit growing, albeit slowly, and nothing blowing up on the main vines yet. Knock on wood. I'm glad I have so many plants going though, I can afford to lose a couple.
