OK OK....as you can see Im tense...end o last season I got Vine borers...still managed a 90 pounder.....Ive been careful this year and went away on vacation and when I got back I noticed a few yellaw leaves similiar to last year...well last night I bought sevin and gave it a good dose just in case...well today I was able to prune some of the yellow leaves and there is definite holes at the bottom of the stem....IS IT TOO LATE???????...my pumpkin which is only the size of a watermelon seeems to have a split on the stem going into the pumpkin...because its on the bottom side I cant really tell the extent....It seems to still be growing but with limited activity.....can I cover the stem with DUCT TAPE...or anyone think that it is worth it to do aqnything...also for next year what can i do for soil prep to ensure this doesn't happen again...but more importantly what can I do now????????............AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH......a devoted PUMPKIN GROWER.........luv the site and forum.......

You can make a paste of Captan and just chuck it in there with a finger. A mechanics inspection mirrow is about five bucks at the auto parts store. That may help you. Dig out any soft material you suspect may be rot. Wear a latex glove when messing with chemicals like that!

Dear Eng6900; I would recommend you just cut the vine totally, and wait until next year. Maybe then you'll have learned enough to know, to not TRY to grow a pumpkin when you're really not knowing all the facts about how to... If you do decide to continue growing this pumpkin, I do recommend BLEACH! lol xo
