I'm growing a pumpkin from a container on my patio, & am wondering if anyone has had any luck growing large pumpkins in containers, or if this is a futile project. Right now I have 2 from 2 separate plants & they are about cantelope size.

Yo Sweet Sue, Its futile I'm afraid...you cannot get a big enough root system.

Don't think you can grow Atlantic Giants that way but I have successfully grown Big Max in 1999 in a 12" container full of municipal compost (not sewage but Parks Dept compost.) Plant got about 15ft long & had 1 pumpkin about 75 lbs.
