Why are my puppkins green? I have four on one vine and they are all green with the largest measuring about 20 inches around and groowing by the minute!

Some pumpkins do start out as green and then will yellow up, i've also had them do the opposite as they grow larger start to show green pigments, you may be interested in checking out the Welty web site? it has a section on "Color manipulation" goto to site below http://web.raex.com/~ldnwelty/

I'm growing some "pie" pumpkins for eating/carving. They've all started out green and have since started to turn orange as they mature.

JE....classic pumpkins (like jackolanterns and pie pumpkins) are always green until they ripen up. If your growing Atlantic Giant variety (which is actually squash)then the fruit is yellow or white until it ripens to any orangish color, or greenish until it ripens to a non-orange color like green or grey-blue..................G (North Massapequa,L.I.)
