Hi Pumpkineers! Next year you'll be searching this site and the AGGC site for info on the better performing seeds, common problems within seed stocks, and trying to compare last years growth with your new babies of 2002. To make this easier you should consider a couple things: GENERALLY SPEAKING (and anyone can do whatever they want) ,you name the fruit (Ace,Umomma,Goliath etc) but refer to the plant as its official name-811Stellpflug00 or 600Derosiers00,etc...you don't name the PLANT. This makes it easier to follow the performance of the seeds and makes it easier to answer questions you have concerning your plant.(for example, your growing "Zena" and post that Zena has a pumpkin stem fused to the secondary vine. Well, I know of no other "Zenas" being grown.I do know of 6-590Andrews' that have that problem and all outgrew it after the first few fruit.Had I known Zena was a 590A I could have saved you some grief with this info. You can also search the seed on other websites for info.....but wont find "Zena, the warrior-T princess " on any. Also, when speaking of growth...keep a chart every year of every fruit you grow....show age since pollination and circumference...a great reference for later years and Im always comparing this years baby to last years baby....ex= 811Steplpflug...."Junior"...day 8=24c,"little junior"..day 6=17c......a great way to judge how your doing compared to other years and to tell which to cull......just a suggestion!....G

Yo Glenn, On the bright side I'm getting females on the 565 Andrews at last. See, I used the correct terminology.

Glenn,
You make a good point about the confusion when plants are named along with fruit. In my newbie excitment I couldn't help but name the plants that I spent so much time with but I will start referring to them by their proper names. I have become interested in seeds that seem to produce a more heat tolerant plant and use of the proper names would make this easier for me too.
I appreciate all the advice I get from more experienced growers on this site which give me the opportunity to have some measure of sucess my first year instead of stumbling around making all the mistakes that have been made before.
