I'm a first year grower and this website has been invaluable. I'm wondering how close to a pollinated female should I bury the stem? Thanks!

Yo Smitty, I would leave at least 3' either side of the fruit to allow the vine to lift as the pumpkin grows otherwise the vine will root and the stem end will be under stress as the pumpkin tries to lift it up as it grows.

Smitty,
Any idea what the record size of a pumpkin is in Alberta?

Yo dcoupal, Mary Lobay's pumpkin is the heavieast one ever grown that far north of the equator..if she lives in Smokey Lake...but if she lives a few miles south of Smokey Lake..then mine is the heaviest at 743lb..just a bit of usless info.
