My 805 Pukos plant is showing a lot of wilting after the pumpkin on the main vine. The secondary vines on one side of the plant are wilting also. No SVB damage was found. The pumpkin is fast growing 51" at day 14 would this growth rate cause the plant to wilt? The wilting is gone after the heat of the day.

Sounds to me that you have to get a lot more water on your plant.

George. My 805 from last year wilted allot in the sun. I wouldn't worry about it too much, your growth rate is very good. Last year it produced a 588lber for me, pollinated aug 1 which was too late, but was a fast grower. Also had a 556lber on it. They say to get 60 inches in 20 days is good,so you are ahead of that pace. I watered mine more and it didn't make much difference. Still would wilt.

It seems that fruit is getting all the drink and food for herself. I have a similar one in my 658 Emmons (65" at day 17). It is growing nicely, but is the only one think growing in this plant, as main, runners and leaves looks to be stopped in their growth, while no wilt leaves at all. Maybe it doesn't wilt because I partially shade the full plant and give her a lot of water. Remember: if you are fat, you eat too much, whatever you eat. In plants, wilt (if no desease present) is concerned with water, at the end, with water.

When the wilting appears on hot days I hit the leaves with the hose (heavy mist/sprinkle). Hopefully no other problems are causing the wilt. You can almost hear the plant say thank you.
