I pollinated 2 pumpkins this morning and about an hour later it poured rain. I was wondering if the rain will affect the pollination process, I didn't close the flowers on the pumpkins. Any thoughts on the subject.

The rain may have washed the pollen off. It's a good idea to close the flowers for that very reason. You could try the whole process again if there is any pollen left on any of the males.

I placed a 5 gal pail over the one I pollinated this A.M. for just that reason...you might want to try this next time ? Best of luck.

My misting system filled the flower with water to the top and it was still pollinated... maybe pollen likes to swim
