I have a female that will likely open tomorrow on the 1056 Duke.Problem is it doesn't look like it will have a male open the same day.I have two strong males that opened this morning, should I tie them up and use them tomorrow? The female is at 12'on the main and I'd really like this one to set.

I would go out really fast now, take them inside and store them in a glass of water in your fridge. You can also put a baggie over them to keep them away from any moisture. That should work. Hurry up, bees are coming!

will moisture kill the pollen, or just make it goopy and hard to work with????

If you get the pollen wet I firmly believe it is gone. I have had great sucess with picking males and using an artists brush to collect and store the pollen in the freezer for use at the perfect time. (put the small brush and pollen in a zip-lock baggie in the freezer. P.s I have to cut the brush handle in half to do this.....

When the pollen is a little clumpy does that mean there is too much moisture?...trying to decide if a bag over the flowers is necessary when putting them in the fridge.

If the moistuure theory is correct, what happens should it rain all day with one male available, one female open and ready, would the bees be able to perform their intermediary function without getting weighed down by soggy pollen......

to date I've kept male flowers in the frig for two days and it doesn't appear the pollen gets too clumpy for use...time will tell if the set takes ???
best of luck all !
