In the last 4 days I have had a little over 4 inches of rain. Will this make the newest growth on the end of the vine droop, giving the appearance it is dying? This is happening on the main as well as the secondaries. Or could this be a fertilizer OD? I have yet to check my other plot at my in-laws, but this is my prize plant here at home that it is happening to. Be back later, after I check the other plot.

I would be looking for some sawdust looking stuff called frass, and an entry hole around the main vine. Seems like your symptoms are those of a vine borer. Healthy plant one day, sick and wilting next. Shannon

hmm, my plant does that as well. I havent fertilized in a while, we havent had much rain, and i dont think we have vine borers here in Washington. So i dont think it is too unusual to have the new growth droop downwards? Unless there is something wrong with my plant also? -Antonio

this is a veerrrry late response on my part, but the natural growth of the "fist" on the end of any pumpkin vine starts out drooping sharply, unless it is in the very beginning of growth, like a foot or less.....so it sounds normal to me without a picture to peer at....'pal
