All of the females on one of my plants (none are pollinated yet) seem to have a faint green color. Does this mean I will have squash or is it to early to tell? I have never had a green one in the past, do squash start out green or do they change during the season. The plant is the 617 Andrews so it definately has some green genes in it.

Might be to early to tell. I had greenies on my 720 Klinker plant, the one pollinated two weeks ago is completely yellow now. Is a squash green from the beginning or will it change color later in the season? Squash experts needed.

My understanding according to the rules of the squash contest It is a "true" squash if it starts out green and is still green 30 days after pollenation. G can you straighten us out on this?

jack-o-lantern type pumpkin start out green and stay green till late in the season. My experience is that green AG's end up a nice orage color.

I grew the 810-99 Dill several years ago and it had very dark green vines with grass green baby pumpkins, after pollination the fruit turned yellow then as it grew turned extremely orange. You never know untill its to late! Generally green babies beget squash I believe.... Best of luck. Gerry Gadberry
