Last weeks heat caused all my early sets to abort. But this weeks cooler weather has helped I think I have 7-8 that might have taken . This is the first year I have kept growth charts , one fruit is 6 days old & 12" in circ. I hope thats good . Here is my question a few fruits are at a bad angle but growing well . If some of you want please give me ideas of what you have used to reposition the fruit . with just a little movement they will be sitting just right..........Thanks ,...Paul

Paul, I can only recommend that you move them ever so slightly once a day and hold them in that position with a padded stake or homemade sand bag. Don't move them in the heat of the day. Do the moving and positioning when they are small. Sometimes you can gain more space if you move the vine a little bit too.

I found that a bamboo stick against the dried up blossum works well. I learned the hard way that a young pumpkins skin is very delicate and I would avoid pushing anything against it.

I'm sorry, but I don't agree with Wes! If you try to move your vines or pumpkins early or late in the day, they are brittle and will snap. You want to slowly reposition them during the heat of the day, when they are supple. Also try to curve your vine, so when the pumpkin gets bigger, it will not grow over the vine. Been there, done that!

Thanks for the ideas . I think it might help that all have fairly long stems, some 6" some 8" . At only 5-7 days old I think this is pretty long...........Paul

It seems to work better to wait a week or so then the pumpkin is a little larger and the weight of the pumpkin seems to hold it in place without any need for any other support.
