Seems like I read that you should only have 5 lobes in the female. My 1st. female opened this morning, and it had 11 lobes. Is that a bad thing? I had 2 males opened too, and i went ahead and pollenated it anyway.....it was my first time! What is the deal with the amount of lobes, and does it make a difference in fruit growth? I can always cull this one if it sets, but i had to give it a try. Cuzbiker

you probably had one with 5 or 6 sometimes the lobes look split giving the impression there is more than what is really there. I have always heard that each lobe can produce a seed cavity , so more lobes mean more seed cavities, more seed cavities mean bigger pumpkin. ........Paul

Thanks for the encouraging words Paul! I counted 11 little "nodules", and i guess they could've been split. What do I know......i'm just a newbie!! Hahahaha I kinda hope it was 11 lobes now.......bigger pumpkin, with more seeds sounds good! Cuzbiker
