My 1st female should be ready to pollinate tomorrow, or Sunday...my question is this: The short vine that the pumpkin is at the end of is pointing straight up in the air.
Will this hurt anything when the weight of the pumpkin growth (if it sets) weighs it down? I wonder if it'll split the vine.......should i blow this one off, and wait for another female to be ready?

I would say pollinate it... the vine will probally ease on down and you will have nothing to worry about...

Good luck, Justin

are you pollinating a fruit that's at the end of a vine? if so, get her, and dont worry about it. secure the vine so it doesnt get messed up by the wind, and she'll come down for you.

It was at the end a few days ago, but of course the vine has grown another 18 inches. That brings me to another question......is there a certain length i should grow the main vine? Do you bury it so it doesn't get too long, or just let grow until it quits growing? Boy, i ask a lot of questions, dont i? Hahahahaha

I think from what I heard... You should let the main vine grow out 10-12 feet past the last pumpkin that was set on the vine. Then you clip off the tip of the vine and bury it.
If someone else says something that is contradicts what I have said, then disregard my opinion and go with thiers.

good luck, Justin
