Ok, since my 840 Puked on me the big green one is all I got left for the contest. My lil Hester is just about to flop over and start vining. Plus I gave it the sweetest spot in all the patch!

LOL. I have two 522 Sherwoods in the ground. One will be culled and the other will have the entire 800sq ft of prime black Iowa soil all to itself. At this point they are still very young and small with one looking perfect and the other looking pretty good. The extended forecast looks great with warm temps and one day of rain and then plenty of sun. Im sure plenty of growth will develope this week!!

Squash plants are really doing nothing, battling to stay green with no sun !!! Dave

My 494 Neuville is my best plant. The hot dry weather is taking it's toll. Only producing small leaves. I wish it would cool down about 20 degrees.

My 856 Hester has just picked up and started going. It was 111* yesterday, so it wilted a little I misted and it came right back up. It is doing the best out of my squash plants so far.

my 546 Welty is looking good, really trying to catch up to the others. As soon as we get some sun here it should take off, as well as my other plants. I have high hopes for this plant, it is a 744 Welty x 703 Smith. I hope to get 600lbs from it, but that's with no problems. tom

895.5 Hester best squash plant..just ahead of the 990 Hebb. 703 Smith... 349 huffer... both going well. Some of the other plants are throwers of either squash or pumpkin.Best plant in patch so far is 888 Mombert...ahead of the squash.

My squash are doing ok, but the heat hurt my 895* today :(
The others, 893 Needham, 791 Hebb, 771 Stellpflug (anyone else have difficulty spelling that name?) are doing very well as they do not get as much sun.
The main vine tip of my 703 Smith got eaten by something. I didn't have it protected. the plant will survive but the varment will not!!!
I am up late because I was just out in the patch setting some traps. I am hoping it was not a skunk. I saw a big one last weekend in my back yard.
If it is, at least I will know when I catch it!

I am hoping the weather heats up here in Ohio...not much promise in the forcast though. My best squash is the 895.5 Hester, but it is still only on first true leaf. See pics in my grower's diary!
