Just thought we could share some of our experiences to date. I started two 840's and the first one is doing great and the second one IM sure is now dead. I don't know what happened to it but it was just looking lifeless tonight, completely limp on the ground. All other plants look great so it is a mystery to me. Darn it was looking so good. Good luck to everyone. Mike Frantz

My 840 seed rotted. Had several generous offers to replace which I declined because we have another here. Just no room to plant. Started seven. Two failures (I accidnetly killed one). Two given away. Three keepers. I just don't have the space needed for four. As it is we probably need to cull down to two now.

Our Prize donation stands regardless & I wish the best of luck to all participants.

Now what we need is some SUN!

Mine is stalled. It has rained the last 9 out of ten days, and the sun has shown brightly for about 8 hours in those ten days, spread over 3 days here and there. I dug several two foot post holes Saturday, went to eat lunch and when I came back the holes had filled with 20 inches of water thru the hole walls, no kidding. Figured it for spiritual help and dumped the dry concrete right in the water, followed by the post! I'll take a break any way I can get it.

I have some 575 Dills, which are eeking out some small gains, as well as my 637 Richie, but it's slow going.

Long-range forecast for my area doesn't show it heating up until around the 8th of June. My kids and I are brainstorming radical ideas to get caught up. My wife, you gotta love her, asked if we could start one of the extra AG's in a spare room we have, about 200 sq feet and grow it till August to get my daughter caught up. I just smiled.

On sound advise I cut way back on feeding to avoid over fertilization while little is being used in this wet gray cold period. The plants are in fact now looking better since the cut back.

The first seed didn't germinate. It does seem like a tough seed to get going.

The second one is doing great. It has the biggest cots I've even seen!

My 840 was the first of my seeds to come up and is doing about as good as the rest of my plants.....which isn't saying much since the patch has been a swamp. It is double planted on a hill with a 555.8 Saylor (which looks healthier right now) so it may not make the cut. I thought I would've culled by now but there is no need to hurry with this slow growth.

If I had to measure, it would have to be in milimeters, definately not inches! When I put them in, I buried them right up to the cotes, so all I've seem for the last two weeks are a couple of sets of nice leaves looking like they are trying not to drown in the dirt/mud. COME ON hot and humid!

I just got mine last week and it shot right out of the soil. A welcome change to all my problems with germination this year. I plan on putting it in the patch as soon as I don't sink 4" with every step!

Mine is in the ground and still green but that's about it. We've had alot of rain and not too much sun. I think the 40 degree temps at night are putting a chill on my little feller!

Our 840 is alive and ready to run if the SUN ever shines again. Has 6 or 7 leaves and some yellowing on 2 of them so I'm feeding it a little more than the others. Al

I have my 840 planted and is doing well, but I didnt register in time for the contest,so am i in or out. I had family problems that was the cause of my late registery which caused me to not register on time.

My #1 840 is the best plant I have. It is growing great. It is not very big yet, but is just about to the vining stage.

The #2 and #3 arent too far behind. Both look good but one will have to go. I planted them pretty close so I'll have to cull within two weeks.
