Is there any benefit to leaving the tendrils on the vine? They seem to be more of a nuisance than anything. Would it be okay to remove them then? If so, would you just cut them off with scissors or is there some other technique?

the tendrils are benificial for anchoring your plant. ( i put sticks in the ground near them to grab.) but on some of my vines they were amuck so i removed these. i used razor knife, for a clean wound heals quicker. so if you have to remove them do so but if there not interfering with leaf or vine development leave them for i beleive fewer weeping wounds on a plant is better
p.s. i always remove the tendril by pumpkins early.

i noticed that cutting the tendril at the base were it meets the vine makes the plant entirely to unstable. This year I am going to just cut the fingers off and see how the spike part of the tendril fairs. It's the fingers that cause all the rucus.

Leave them alone unless they are absolutly in the way. Tendils act like feet to help stablize the vine in wind, or just from rolling-over under the weight of leaves.

tendrils can also cause problems concerning wrapping themselves around leaf stalks and leaves themselves-- and they can also be a nuisance if you're trying to move a vine for other reasons and they are attached in a potentially damaging way...viewing all of the above vital information, a selective pruning of the tendrils is in order, from not at all to completely. just whatever purpose you deem necessary is totally fine! the stump of the tendril can be left intact, for the purpose of supporting the vine a certain way, but the 'fingers' ((like that term!) (chicken tendrils?) lol) can be removed to prevent their incessant latching-on to things.....they are indeed amazing appendages! 'pal
