Check out the photo in my grower diary. Should I grow this fruit out or cull it and wait for the next female? The stem seems to be fused to the secondary vine, like you would see on a double-wide vine. Opinions are welcomed. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary.asp?eid=1792&grower=1000&action=L&season=2001

can you play doctor and separate it and see what happens? you can always cull it. see if you can separate it....or if you want to experiment, let it grow once. Last year i had a 596 Johnson squash plant had a female that had the secondary vine almost completely attached to the sqaush bulb of the female. I pollinated it and it grew and at about basketball size it had a major split were the vine was attached. I still let it grow untill it started to rot. If you don't want to separate it or experiment, then i would cull it.

One of the many mutant situations common with AG's. I had that on my 1092Burke in 99 and on the progeny from it. Got them (one actually) pollinated but wasn't growing right...certainly headed for disaster so I culled it. Fortunately, most of the remaining fruits were normal. I'd cull it ........G

Since it is my best plant and on the main I will cull it. The next female down the main should open in the next few days.
