I was out in my patch today. I use small 2x2 6 inches long to hold my windows open on my small greenhouses. Anyways, I dropped one of the 2x2's and it hit the 1074 right smack on top of the plant. Broke off the second and third true leaves. The stem is ok.I was really upset. Has anyone ever had this happen where they broke the second and third leaves off and the plant still grew? I need to know as to if I need to replace the plant or not.

It could grow a secondary from the first leaf axil, but growth will slow down for some time.
If you have any backup waiting for an oportunity, maybe this is the right moment for it to get to the patch. Just my thought.

I did here of someone whom was stretching out a steel measuring tape and sliced off one of the only remaining 705 Stelts plants in the world! Ouch! (I'm glad mine never even germinated, too much pressure!)

A few weeks ago, my heater quit working in one of my hot houses. The temperature went down to 25 degrees for a few hours. All of my true leaves froze off completely. I thought the plant was dead for sure. The plant ended up coming right back with new leaves, and now is doing fine. I would bet your plant grows some new leaves immediately, and in a few weeks, you won't know there was a problem.

Good Luck.

PB,
If the stem is okay and the first true leaf is still intact, the plant will be set back some, but it should make it..Joe P.

I don't feel so much a clumsy oaf now. Hubby and I worked our butts off (well not quite) LOL, today, and got 3 mini green houses made. Pictures will soon be posted in my diary. Anyhow, I took out some of my plants, which were carefully labled as to which plant came from what seed... I dug my first hole in about one to two feet of manure, filled it with peat moss, and potting soil, mixed everything and dug another hole and very very carefully placed one of my very best plants in the hole and started to bury it....oops forgot to put the Insectigone in the hole...oh well, thats ok...just carefully remove the plant...yeah...right...snap goes the stem....left about an inch of root system....swearing softly,( for a minute there I lost my religion) I gather what is left of my plant and put it back in its pot...(refilled with very wettish soil and bring it back in the house. It is wilted badly...I am sure it is dead. Mental note here....never start with your best plant....experiment your handling and planting techniques with a poor plant! I still had 9 left to plant....everything went along smoothly. My eldest son and family came to visit...and I voluntereed my son to help his dad. They did a great job and my plants are all snug in their new homes.Whewwwww

in 2000 i had 3 plants... broke a foot of the tip of the main vine while trying to move it. the vine was 6 ft long.
the next week i mixed up a batch of magic fert stuff in a 5 gallon bucket ...Jerry Baker special plus some of my own stuff.... there was like 3 cups strait ammonia in there...
poured 1/3 of it on each of my plants... a fes days later my 865 Metter plant ( which got the last 3rd of the bucket ) almost died... i figured i didn't mix well and it got most of the stuff... i gave up on the plant... except for watering it... a month later it kind of recovered and i got a 365 lb-er off it by the end of the season... on plant made it through the season without me damaging it.
I got a 520 lb-er of it.
