i have seen some old posts on orthene and i am wondering if anyone has used the product or knows about amounts to apply and mixing ratios used with success. i want to be ready for the battle of the bugs this year, especially the svb because sevin does nicely for the cuke bugs, but the borer got me last year.

Shazzy,
I've treated with Merit 75WP already. Will again soon.
Orthene in theory would perform nearly as well. 1 Tbsp per gallon of water, More of a foliar absorbed material than Merit.
Merit is slower on the uptake through the roots, but more effective. 4 Teaspoons per 1000 sq ft. in 1-2 gallons of water.
If you can get it, Furadan is the best there is.
