I blew it. My daughter and I started some seeds back around the first of April in hopes of getting something ready for our Ag Fair in Early August. Seeds started great, kept them inside under the lights about 2 weeks after germ, then moved them out on the porch. First day out, temps spiked, came home to fired pumpkin plant. :{

Along with my competition plants, I also started about 6 Dill 575's. Question is, if you follow normal procedures, even for a ull, then take the shading off near the end of July, will the pumpkin go ahead and "orange up" a bit? For her age group a Cull should be sufficient, but we were hoping for something more. Totally my screw up though, she's being a sport about it.

Or, what if we crossed a 90-day term plant with an AG? think that would give it a boost?

If the cross worked, it would show up in the next generation. Or the seeds obtained from this years pumpkin. IF it works.

I'd just restart some regular AG seeds or meet up with another grower who has some extra starts they don't need. You'll harvest before it's done, but you'll still have a nice one for the daughter's fair.

funnydad; i have several young plants,( 3 leaf appx.4" dia.) that you can have if you can figure out a way to get them delivered intact to your patch. good genes too. ranging from 20-28 days old. a whittier, one miller, several clarks,a 728 Roulst, 618 Desrosiers. they were part of an experiment i just finished on germination techniques. i`ll do what i can on my end to help if you come up with a viable plan that has at least a bit of a chance to succeed. anything to put a smile on a kids face! let me know here if interested. (if the plan is illegal, better e-mail it to me) lol
