Hey everyone. I am new at this whole pumpkin growing thing so I was wondering something. When you bury vines do you cut of the leaves and bury the vine or what? And what if you have a female blossum growing?? Any help I would appreciate.~Ryan

First of all do not cut any leaves, you need all you can get. Now when I bury mine I dig a trench in the direction that every main & secondary is growing, as the vine falls into the trench I have dug I backfill around it & mound up soil at EVERY LEAF . This may sound like a lot & it takes me about a hour every day , but you will only have to do it until about july 4th to 15th then your plant is large enough & all you will have to do is fert. & worry about splits. Also my space is small 450 sq. ft. , but I feel with burying every axle & when I fertilize ( which is daily) I fert. every axle I have buried , I can achieve a large pumpkin............Paul

Forget about the second part of your question , do not bury where the females are.......Paul

Leave a few feet of the vine on both sides of the female blossum uncovered, so the vine can lift as the pumpkin grows.
