you know what makes me so angry i could brush my teeth with a chainsaw...i look at all these diaries on here and the patches are so durn perfect..the soil looks like its been run through a flour sifter,the tillers look like they came right off the showroom floor,not a weed in sight, the plants shine like they have been sprayed with Porsche 911 paint, little boards to walk on so you don't compact the precious soil, pumpkins that look like they came from a factory....and on and on.. then I look at my patch, buckgrass,cockleburs,morning glories,rocks as big as wagon wheels,chunks of clay type dirt that dynamite wouldn't destroy,wore out tillers, broken tines,pumpkin plants that look more like watermelon than pumpkin...dag nabbit y'all killin me

got so many leaves cloud looks like it needs to be raked!! only it's three feet deep in spots...now I'm throwing clay and rocks up there to compensate...you can't win!!

Black Cloud It has taken me about 16 yrs. to build my garden area up. I'm still finding big rocks. The first 10 yrs. I was trying to dig in the hardpan-clay with a shovel. Thanks to a little money when my mom and dad died I was able to get a Ford tractor. Just keep working the soil.

If this dam rain ever lets up I will get my patched tilled. I myself like it to be weed free and the soil to look fluffy. I too will have my boards to walk on. Thank you pumpkinBrat for that good advice last year. And pumpkinPiper I would rather walk with the dogs than piss like a pup.

I know how you feel blkcloud, I look at the fantastic pumpkin patches in the diaries and I am amazed. I know I won't be posting any pictures of my pumpkin patches. Not unless they have a funnys section and would like a picture for what not to raise your pumpkins in.
